Sandwiches can be traced back thousands of years. However, they got their name about 275 years ago when John Montagu, the Earl of Sandwich, hungry and too busy to stop for a meal, ordered some meat tucked in between two pieces of bread. (Folklore has it that he ate with one hand and wrote or played cards with the other.) Oddly enough, he named this meal the "Sandwich."

Today each person in the United States eats an average of 198 sandwiches per year. And with lives getting busier, that number is growing. So SuperSandwich.com located at 702 Bridgeport Avenue, Shelton has perfected this idea. How? We make tasty old world sandwiches using top-quality, nutritious, ingredients. We smartly combine new world technology making the process quick and easy. We get it! SuperSandwich knows what our customers want: great quality food served fast . . .they definitely DO NOT want 'Fast-Food'!

Sounds simple? But 'simple' is not the same as 'easy'. It's hard work and much attention to detail. People often ask us, "What is the one thing that makes your sandwiches so delicious?" Our answers is, "It's not one thing, it's all things. It's making sure that every ingredient is always up to our high quality standards."

For example, making a delicious sandwich starts with great bread. Every morning our Ciabatta rolls are delivered warm from the bakery ovens. This amazing bread is moist on the inside, and is surrounded by a tasty crust. It's one terrific piece of bread to start with!

We then stack our super sandwiches with the finest homemade ingredients. Our chicken and eggplant cutlets are homemade daily in our spotless kitchen moments before they are served. Our meats and cheeses are the best, using old-world meat curing methods that have been around for hundreds of years. Also, our produce is delivered fresh daily. "Vegetarians and Vegans love us! We listened to their suggestions and we developed a special recipe for a multigrain Ciabatta roll and added it to our menu."

When it comes to finishing our sandwiches; we use only the finest ingredients. We make our own balsamic vinaigrette and pesto dressings with olive oil which is imported from Italy, and made from fresh picked olives (picked from the tree; and NEVER the ground), then pressed old world style between two cold stones. (In Italy, 'old world' isn't 100 years... - it's 2,000 years!) This is the same tasty olive oil that was eaten by Julius Caesar in Rome. Our tomato sauce is fresh-made daily using ripe tomatoes from Italy. YES! — they're hand-picked from the vine and delivered to SuperSandwich! (They share a boat ride with the olive oil.)



Our sandwiches are a great value too. They come in three different sizes to fit any appetite. Mini-sliders, Super and Super Duper. (Many customers eat half and save half for later.) Using the same quality ingredients, we added super salads to our menu. Another instant hit. Freshness and quality count!
